Career
Juan Pablo Quintero is an architect, designer, and artist of Venezuelan origin who has been living in Barcelona, Spain, since 1994.
He grew up in a carpentry and construction workshop in his family environment and from a very young age he carried out furniture commissions for private clients. He studied engineering before graduating summa cum laude as an architect from the Central University of Venezuela, Caracas.
In Barcelona, he pursued postgraduate studies in history and architectural criticism, but his passion for “doing” and experimental creation took him out of the classroom and pushed him to create his first objects with his own hands.
In 2002, he created his own design company, Medio Design, focused on the manufacture of objects, custom furniture, and special installations based on a dialogue between tradition and technology, where he unleashes his creativity and inventiveness.

Work
Juan Pablo Quintero's work stems from his passion for materials and geometry.
From his artistic sculptures and furniture design editions to specific custom commissions, his ongoing search for systems in which no element is left to chance is revealed. For him, every design decision has meaning. This arises from a confluence of function, manufacturing, and materiality.
Reversible or dual elements are common in many of his pieces. He enjoys combining them to create expressive tensions.
He is fascinated by the material universe from which he draws inspiration, pushing materials to the limits of their capabilities.
Vision
The dialogue between tradition and technology is characteristic of his work. For him, the use of advanced manufacturing techniques is just another tool that gives free rein to his creative expression.
His involvement with the design of details and their technical resolution borders on obsession. For him, design is in the details.
Juan Pablo Quintero approaches each project as a commitment to himself. He strives for excellence in every piece of work.
